Mr Sarada De Silva counts over 49 years of experience in the exports, trading, tourism and spice industry, especially in the Ceylon Cinnamon Industry and is the Founder & Emeritus Chairman of the Spice Council of Sri Lanka (TSC), Chairman of Cinnamon Training Academy (CTA) & Ceylon Cinnamon Geographical Indications Association (CCGIA). Mr De Silva, the Founder Chairman of the Ceylon Cinnamon Association was instrumental in highlighting the importance of the Cinnamon Industry over the past three decades. He has held many positions in the Spice industry in Sri Lanka. He is also the Director and former Chairman of Ceylinco General Insurance Limited, the largest general insurance company in Sri Lanka with branches in over 10 countries from 2013 to 2021. Mr De Silva was the Chairman of the Committee appointed by the Minister of Trade and Commerce in drafting procurement procedure for the Cooperative Wholesale Establishment (CWE) and Director of CWE from 1994 to 2000. He also served as Consultant to World Trade Organisation - International Trade Centre, Geneva for EU assisted MARKUP project for East African countries.
