Shri Sathiyan is Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer of 1996 Batch Assam, Meghalaya Cadre. He is a graduate in Forestry from Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU) and a post graduate in Forestry from Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA), Dehradun. He has served in various capacities in the State of Meghalaya as well as under the Government of India. In Meghalaya, he served as Secretary, Bio-Diversity Board, Secretary, State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Chief Conservator of Forest, etc. Under the Central Government, he has served as Faculty at the Central Academy for State Forest Service Coimbatore and as Deputy Inspector General of Forests (Central) in the regional office of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Chennai. He was promoted to the rank of Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests by the Government of Meghalaya in 2021. He has been serving as Secretary, Spices Board since March 2019. He has also served as the Board's Chairman during September 2020 –September 2021.
