Dr. Mwate Mulenga is the Canadian Food Inspection Agency ( C F I A ) Counsellor Agriculture & Regulatory Specialist at the High Commission of Canada in New Delhi since 2021. She joined the CFIA in 2007 and has worked in various sections of the Agency including one on food composition and grades. She worked extensively on the development of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR)as it relates to food grades, Canadian Grade Compendium and Canadian Standards of Identity which are incorporated by reference in the SFCR. In India, Mwate oversees the regulatory aspects of bilateral trade between Canada and India i.e., imports and exports of food, plants, animals and their products. Her responsibilities include, but not limited to, market access and clarifcation of Canadian food, animal and plant import requirements.
